Unusual meeting

Unusual meeting

3Her thoughts break off when the tunnel suddenly started to light up and she sighed as she put her pen light back into her pocket. Now they are making this too obvious.

'I did come here expecting that there would be a fight, so I brought plenty of bullets. But, once in a while it would be nice to end a job without blood.'

After having such a lovely and pleasant memory of the past, the last thing she wanted was to end up soiling those memories.

Sighing, Sumire continued to make her way through the tunnel. It's good that they were generous enough to switch the lights back on. The reason she took that trip down memory lane was to distract herself from the surrounding darkness. After walking for a few minutes, it did not take long before she reached the end of her section of the tunnel.

The smell of blood had gotten stronger. Sumire takes her gun out. It's best to be ready. The minute she turned to the right, she almost tripped. Sumire glanced at the ground and saw a body, and another. Even without checking she knew they were dead already.

Two bodies, how many people did they say went missing again? Was it three? She can identify these people later. Sumire moved the two bodies against the wall, and was disgusted with what she saw. Their faces had been so badly disfigured.

She wonders if Toh will be able to identify them. Sumire hears a rustling sound not too far from where she was, and turned another corner to spot a body leaned against the wall and the back of a man with messy light green coloured hair. He was rummaging through the other person's pockets and cursing.

She just watched him for a few minutes not understanding what his intentions were. What is this situation?

Sumire frowned and quickly decided. It's better to take him into custody first, she raised her gun towards the back of his head. "Don't move."

The man chuckled. "I didn't think I'd find somebody alive down here."

"Are you the attacker? Did you kill these people?"

"Wrong miss, I was sent here to rob these people of their belongings. I expected it to be more difficult but here they are dead."

So, is he saying he didn't attack them?

"How do you expect me to believe that?"

He chuckled. "Miss you don't know me. But, I am quite the reasonable man."

"A reasonable robber?" Sumire laughed. "That's quite the thing to say."

"All you have to do is look at my face-" He turned his head, and in that next second a sinister looking smile appeared on his face. "Hahahaha, I can't believe this. I didn't even have to actively look for you, you came to me on your own."

What is he talking about-? Sumire stepped back when she sees him pull out a gun.

The green haired man stands up, and brushes the dirt of his clothes. "Are you Ibuki Sumire?"

"Yes, but you-"

"The name is Arata." Arata's lips curved to a smile. "I guess Toh didn't tell you about me?"

Eh?

Arata laughed. "I didn't think he would. But, with the way he was acting I thought he would at least warn you."

It takes her a moment to process the words he just said. Now that she thinks about it. Didn't she just have a conversation with Toh about him having a friend that is similar to her. Is he talking about this person?

"I learned of you vaguely today. So, your Toh's friend?"

"You could say that. That guy and me is the same type. What about you? What's your relationship with him?"

"He is my-" Sumire paused. "-boyfriend."

At those words Arata laughed. "He really made a move on you. No wonder he was acting so overprotective. I see now, that's why he wanted me to stay away. But, make no mistake. Even if he is a friend of mine." Arata trailed off and suddenly appeared in front of her, with his gun raised and his fist. "I won't allow him to interfere in my battles."

Sumire felt his fist come close to punching her but at the last second she managed to back away, and kicked him. It was just a single kick, and yet she managed to hit the corner of his mouth.

Arata wiped his mouth now covered in blood and laughed again. "You don't even need a weapon. Your physical attacks are just as dangerous." He looked around. "Toh isn't with you?"

"No, I got separated."

"Then, I can fight you as I please."

She spends the next few minutes trading blows with the person. A combination of physical attacks and using guns. Sumire had to admit that he was very good. This is the first person other than Masaru-senpai, Aki-san and Ru who can keep up with her like this. Yuhi-san is just in another league altogether, so he doesn't count.

She wonders when was the last time she could fight like this.

"You're good." Arata muttered. "But, I wonder what it is. It seems like there is something holding you back."

At those words Sumire's lips curved to a smile. "There is no use going all out on somebody I just met. You have to earn it first."

Arata laughed. "Well I can't deny that."

Sumire was about to aim her gun, when she heard a loud ringing sound in her ears and a throbbing sensation in her heart. Huh? What's wrong with her? She isn't sick again is she? No, she ought to be okay now. But, all of a sudden- This is bad, her vision is getting blurrier by the minute. If she continues this way- she will-
