"You know, I have to thank you for what happened last time. Because of you, I am more popular."
Sumire was too tired to listen to him and just mumbled a 'your welcome.'
Kenji however took this as a sign to get closer to her. She didn't know what possessed him to think that way, but just like the previous gathering his hand was on her lap again and he was leaning dangerously close. His lustful eyes were worse than last time.
"You truly are a fascinating woman. I was thinking of when I would see you again, and was even thinking of asking Toh for your number."
"He would never give it to you." Sumire said firmly.
Kenji blinked but chuckled. "Toh never gets attached to women, so he would have given it to me."
"Well you're wrong. He is attached to me."
This only led to Kenji laughing even more. She was already irritated because of the woman Toh was with. That woman was currently giving Toh kisses on his cheek and neck, as she flirted with him. It was already taking all her willpower not to stand up and start a fight. Now, she has to deal with this annoyance by her side.
"How amusing Miss Sumire. But, you don't need somebody like Toh. What you need is a man like me."
"A man like you." Sumire repeated.
"Yes, if it's me I can give you what you want. Each and every desire." Kenji leaned forward and brushed his lips against her neck.
She shuddered, immediately feeling disgusted.
'Can't I just hit him? But, if I do that in a place like this. These people would certainly call the police.'
Unfortunately with her current situation, she cannot afford to deal with the police right now. She just has to cope with it until Toh comes over. It seemed Toh finally noticed, since he was frowning.
Sumire put on a fake smile but murmured the words 'help.' It seemed this little interaction didn't go un-noticed by Toh's companion, since she suddenly flung herself to him and kissed him. Not on the cheek but on his lips. She froze seeing the scene before her, and before she knew it she stood up and exited the banquet hall.
But, the minute she walked down the corridor. She felt a hand on her wrist.
"Let me go." Sumire hissed at Akira Kenji who had followed her.
"Now, now we were in the middle of a conversation. How could you just leave me?"
"I am done with you." Sumire made it clear that she didn't just mean she was done with their conversation. She wanted nothing to do with him anymore.
Kenji tightened his grip on her wrist. "How could we be finished, when nothing has started yet?"
Sumire rolled her eyes. "So you know there is nothing between us, then you should give up now. I don't plan to entertain your delusions."
At those words Akira Kenji's gaze dimmed. "But you're willing to entertain Toh?"
"Yes." Sumire didn't hesitate.
If he didn't look like a crazy person before, he now did. She noticed this at the other gathering, but this person seems to have a inferiority complex against Toh. This person is only interested in her because he must have heard about Toh taking an interest. If Toh didn't like her, then they wouldn't be having this conversation at all.
"I don't believe I can't get a woman that he is interested in. Even that one he came with today, slept with me earlier. Now she is all over him but I have dominated her already."
Sumire sighed when she heard the pathetic sounding words that escaped his lips. This person is truly insane. Does he have any idea how pathetic he sounds? Kenji must have discovered which woman, Toh was bringing to this event and decided to strike before the gathering.
'I understand how it feels to be inferior to someone, but even this was too much.'
"Listen, if that's the case. Shouldn't you be focusing on the other women Toh has been bringing with him to gatherings?"
While she was sitting in her little corner earlier, she overheard some of the gossip from the other females. By bringing different women each time, Toh is trying to draw a line saying that none of these women were special. Others may see him as being a player, but Sumire knew him better by now.
He doesn't do anything for no reason. The reason he is accompanying different women to these events have nothing to do with him playing around.
"You can't trick me. I have seen how he looks at you, Toh likes you more than those other women. If I get you, then I wonder what type of expression he will have?"
'The way Toh looks at me? Is there something different about the way Toh looks at me?'
Just as she was pondering on that, she felt Kenji inch closer.
"I wouldn't fight back if I were you, if you do I will yell loudly and people will rush out of the hall. If you injure me, and people see. Well, they won't hesitate to spread it."
Sumire frowned hearing those words. She cannot cause any problems right now. Her performance went very well, and the negative rumors are disappearing. Her company who was previously being attacked for sheltering her, isn't having any problems right now.If she steps out of line now, she will cause problems for everyone again.
"What do you want?"
"Let me kiss you, and then we can go back together."
Sumire felt bile rise to her thought, she immediately understood what he was trying to imply. If she goes with him this once, maybe he won't bother her anymore? He will see there is nothing special about her and get tired of her. However Sumire knew she was only trying to convince herself. This man intends to use her, until Toh snaps.
'Why does it always end up this way? What use is there having strength, if I can't even defend myself even now.'
She closes her eyes and hears Kenji whistle. She is so pathetic even now. No matter how strong she becomes, it doesn't erase what she truly is- a coward.
