Diane also didn't neglect and nodded to her politely in greeting since they are friends. She easily makes friends with anyone to be honest.
She passed her and went into the room without delay. She didn't even bother to knock on the door. Even if King is naked in there. It wouldn't matter to her.
"King, your appointment with the senate is coming. You should get ready". Diane said and slowly walked behind to rub his shoulders tenderly.
"Thanks dear, I'll go now". King thanked her with a smile and got up from his chair to change clothes and prepare for the meeting.
"I'll accompany you". Diane smiled and stood behind him like an obedient secretary.
"Okay". King smiled and nodded at her before he took out some clothes from his dimensional storage and changed them quickly in the changing room to the side of the study.
He has neatly arranged everything for himself around the study to make it more convenient when he is working.
After changing into a Blue suit with white T-shirt. He was ready to go and boarded a car made by the King industries quickly.
The car looked like the clean sports models in the future like Lamborghini and Ferrari. This car was a mix of both and had a pure white colour.
Diane and King sat down in the car and he floored the car on the empty roads of New York that wouldn't be the same in the future.
Then there would be too many restrictions and too much traffic on the roads to floor a sports car on the road.
They parked the car near the airport and boarded a private plane to Washington which was also a customised thing made by King industries.
They quickly arrived at the pentagon to attend the meeting with the rest of the senate and others from the government.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr King is here". The leader at the helm of the table announced and King stepped into the room with a professional smile on his face.
Howard Stark was also sitting there and looking forward to meeting one of the geniuses like him in the field of weapons and technology.
They were here to win a weapons contract from the senate today. Weapons developed by King and Howard were almost comparable. So they couldn't really decide on who to give the contract.
King was also deliberately controlling the advancement of technology. If it advanced too quickly then it wouldn't be good for the mutants that he was sheltering.
"Mr King, we have received news that you are sheltering some unusual individuals". One of the senators couldn't wait and spoke up as soon as King sat down on a chair.
"So are we starting off with racism?" King squinted his eyes at the female senator and spoke calmly.
There were currently senators, ministers and even generals from the military sitting in the conference to discuss the topic.
"No but the individuals that you have sheltered are the more unique type". The senator didn't relent and spoke up again calmly.
"What are you trying to say?" Elaine couldn't take the constant threats coming out of the woman's mouth and asked coldly on King's behalf.
"General, I would advise you to not step into this conversation". Another senator spoke and looked at Elaine with a serious and unhappy expression.
"So senators, you want to say that those people are not the citizens of America?" King leaned towards the front and entwined his hands together. His voice was cold and unfeeling.
"We just want to know their details". The senator relaxed back with a smile like she had won the argument already.
"Not possible". King waved his hand carelessly and just relaxed back in his chair like her to mock her.
"You have no right to deny". The senator supporting the woman spoke aggressively and patted the table with a lot of strength.
"I have every right to do it. I can stop supplying the whole of US with energy with one word and millions of people will be out of jobs". King shrugged his shoulders and smirked at them playfully.
"Are you threatening us?" The other Senators also spoke up this time. They couldn't take this tone and words lightly against them.
This is the reason why when a company expands a bit too much. Even the government itself doesn't want the company to shut down.
They help the company in all matters willingly and help it tide through the difficulties because if the company fell then the loos to economy would be too great.
King was also playing this card in their face right now. Some of these people were acting but there were Hydra agents in there and King knew their faces clearly.
They would act like this here but at the end of the day. They will support the decisions behind the company unquestionably.
"You can think what you want to think". King smiled in a non committal way and looked at their frowns with an even happier smile.
"Everyone, stop arguing like children and let's get to the main problem of the day". A general stepped in and mediated the situation.
He wasn't interested in their chit chats and he had more interest in the new weapons and weapon system from Howard and King.
"Our weapon system". Howard stood up with a smile and distributed the pictures of everything along with data files to everyone in the room. Even King and Diane.
There was a thick and confident smile on his face and he explained everything to them calmly with a professional tone.
Then it was King's turn and he also explained the new weapon system and other things related to it without missing anything.
Some of the senators were quite unhappy with King already but some didn't really care and those were Hydra agents with some sporadic ones already bought out with money.
'Howard might be a genius but he doesn't understand the political game'. King nodded at Howard with a smile but couldn't help thinking in his mind.
